As many of you may know, there is going to be a tremendous amount of live jazz filling the air this weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We love live jazz here on the Arts & Entertainment Report and we love being able to help foster future generations of young jazz musicians. That’s why we’re happy to support the True Blue Jazz Series.
Now in their fourth year, the True Blue Jazz Series is a 501c3 organization conceived and produced by the husband and wife team of musicians Eddie Sherman and Peggy Raley that aims to preserve the American jazz standard through sponsoring local performances and national acts as part of their Straight Ahead Jazz Series Concept. An additional keystone of their mission is to support new and upcoming generations of young jazz musicians to ensure the future of this treasured and truly American art form.
The True Blue Jazz Series kicks off this year’s weekend long stream of live jazz performances with Young Jazz Appreciation Night with Eddie Sherman & Peggy Raley on Wednesday, October 12 at 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Bethany Blues in Lewes, Delaware located at 18385 Coastal Hwy.
In addition to performances by the Cape Henlopen High School Jazz Combo as well as a jazz combo from Sussex Tech, the evening will also feature local elementary through high school aged students along with their band directors. Plus – Frankie Nanna, a 16-year-old with phenomenal piano talent, will also be performing. And of course, Eddie Sherman and Peggy Raley will be on hand. In addition to the musical event, Raley and her organization will be presenting a second scholarship that evening, in conjunction with a grant awarded by the Sussex County Council.
If you present this flier (available as a printable PDF here) when ordering, you will receive 20% off of your dinner check as a benefit for True Blue Jazz to help fund music education for local kids!
